What's new

New features, improvements and fixes in OutOrganize.

Release notes — October 13, 2026

New

  • Org admins can schedule Nightly Team Assignment in Team Settings to put people on teams by zip code every night at an hour they choose, with the same options as a manual run
  • Resend Invite emails the login invitation again to someone who hasn't signed in yet, from a person's action menu, a participant's row menu on the Participants tab, or for many participants at once with the new Resend Invites bulk action

Improved

  • Importing signups into an admin-team action now asks which team new people should join (your default team, unless you pick another), so imports no longer make people org admins
  • Everyone who fills out a public form now lands on a team: the form's team if it adds people to one, otherwise the team covering their zip code, otherwise your default team

Release notes — October 12, 2026

New

  • Stop sending on an email that's going out skips everyone it hasn't reached yet
  • A Print Segments tab lists an action's segments with one-click door lists and call lists. Everyone sees it with Flexible segmentation; only managers and leads see it with Strict.

Improved

  • Data Jobs and team assignment runs now show live progress while they run, and each job's ID is listed so you can mention it when asking for help
  • You can now cancel a data job or team assignment run while it's running, not just before it starts; it stops at the next safe point and keeps whatever it already finished
  • Printed segment lists fit more people per page. Door lists group people by household in walk order, call lists show every phone number, and each line has a bubble to mark its result and answers.
  • The search bar at the top of every page, and the search boxes on people tables, now find people by email or phone number as well as by name, the same way Quick Canvass does
  • Searching a single name now matches first or last names, so typing "Smith" finds Jane Smith
  • Anyone who can manage an action can now manage its participants, so the separate Signups setting has been removed from Permissions Profiles
  • Searching by zip code (in Quick Canvass and the People list's zip filter) is faster, especially in big organizations and busy zip codes

Fixed

  • A data job whose worker stopped partway is now marked failed instead of showing Running forever
  • Pressing Enter in the top search bar while already on the People page now updates the list
  • Team assignment runs on large organizations no longer stop part way through, and can now run for up to four hours
  • Actions you're signed up for, leading or have favorited now show on your Home page even when another team runs them
  • Volunteers without Forms access can now see and fill in an action's form while canvassing

Release notes — October 8, 2026

New

  • A Team Ladder Report for programs shows how many people on each team are team leads, action leads, participants and potential participants, and who moved up in the time period you pick
  • Interaction statuses can use Moved behavior, which asks where the person moved, saves it as a "Collected While Canvassing" address and can update their team
  • Copy an action from its menu, set up just like the original; for each list you choose whether the copy shares it or gets its own
  • Duplicate a list or an action template; a duplicated template stays a draft until you Publish it
  • Convert an action to a different template, choosing which of the new template's settings to take while its shifts and signups stay put
  • Transfer signups to a shift on a different action, not just another shift of the same one
  • Make an action Repeat daily, weekly or monthly, with future dates created weeks or months ahead so people can sign up early
  • One signup link for a repeating action, where people pick the dates and shifts they can make or sign up for every future repeat at once
  • Edit one repeat of a recurring action, or it and every one after, and see every date on the Other Occurrences tab
  • A Print Segments tab lists an action's segments with one-click door lists and call lists. Everyone sees it with Flexible segmentation; only managers and leads see it with Strict.

Improved

  • A team's Geography tab now lists its child teams' zip codes, and its map opens already zoomed to them
  • Printed segment lists fit more people per page. Door lists group people by household in walk order, call lists show every phone number, and each line has a bubble to mark its result and answers.

Fixed

  • Following a link from one team's page to another now shows the team you clicked instead of the one you came from

Release notes — October 7, 2026

New

  • Choose a Segmentation Mode for each action: Strict keeps volunteers to the segments assigned to them, and Flexible starts them on their segment but lets them hop into any other segment to help

Improved

  • In Strict mode, volunteers with more than one segment can now switch between their own segments, instead of being stuck on the first one

Release notes — October 6, 2026

New

  • Email any program report every day at an hour you pick, to OutOrganize users and to other addresses like a Slack channel, with Report Emails in the program's report settings
  • On the Team Coverage map, approve someone to lead straight from their pin with Approve to Lead, then assign them an action
  • A Duplicate Check tab on each team shows records with the same name and zip code side by side, so team leads can merge them in a couple of clicks (separate voter file records are never merged together)
  • Lists can Search by Address, finding the people at an address or within a distance of it, and list and action templates can have an Address input with address suggestions
  • Forms can Ask for a zip code from people filling them out without logging in

Improved

  • The Universe Penetration report shows progress as bars of reached, attempted and not-yet-attempted people (hover for the numbers), with even totals boxes and a sortable team grid
  • The Activity Report can be searched by name, filtered by team (starting on your team, with or without its sub-teams) from a filter menu that summarizes what's applied, and sorted by total interactions, name or shifts created
  • New Person and Team template inputs start on Default Action Lead and Default Action Team
  • Phone numbers on public forms are checked as they're typed, so mistyped numbers get caught before the form is submitted

Release notes — October 5, 2026

New

  • Share a public Events page for your organization at outorganize.com/actions/your-org, where anyone can browse, search and sign up for your public actions (beta)
  • Choose whether each action with public signups is listed on your org's events page, on the OutOrganize-wide events page too, or shared by link only (beta)
  • Subscribe to your organization's or a team's public events, or to your own Reminders calendar, from Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook (beta)
  • Filter lists by signup status, interaction status and contact type category (for example every "Completed" signup or every "Not Reached" attempt), whatever your organization calls its statuses
  • Filter lists by whether an interaction's status counts as reached or closed, and by interactions in actions from chosen programs
  • Map a multiple-choice question to a question type (Support, Volunteer or Plan to Vote) and its answers to standard responses, so lists can find "strong supporters" across differently worded questions
  • Combine several question conditions in a list's filters, matching all or any of them, and limit each to answers given in chosen actions or programs
  • Save an action as a Draft while you set it up: only the people who can manage it see it, on the Actions page's new Drafts tab, until you publish it
  • Action templates can fill in the lead's name, team, dates and your own text inputs automatically: type @ in a template's action name, objective or list names to pick one
  • Close Shifts has the same bulk tools as Add Signups, so you can set everyone's final status from a sign-in sheet, attendance report or a pasted list of emails or phones
  • Show My Connections adds a Connections list to an action's Outreach tab, with everyone on its lists you're connected to (beta)
  • Highlight New This Week on the Team Coverage map marks the people who joined each group this week
  • Filter the Team Coverage map to one program universe, and see how many people live at an address
  • Invite someone to log in, or assign them a new action, right from their pin on the Team Coverage map
  • Action filters can include descendant teams
  • When you Invite to Login, an Onboarding Action box shows the actions the person will see first and can add them to your team's or organization's default action, or make them the lead of a new action from a default template
  • Team leads can set their team's Default New User Action (an action or a template) from the team's Details tab
  • Public forms can add new people who complete them to the form's team
  • Sections you open in a profile drawer stay open for everyone you look at next, until you close the tab
  • Merge two records for the same person from the person page's ⋯ menu: compare them side by side, choose what to keep, and their history comes together on one record
  • Change History on the person page's ⋯ menu shows edits to a person's details, emails, phones and teams, plus any records merged into theirs
  • Turn on a Wrapup Form for an action so volunteers can tell you how their shift went, from a shareable link or a reminder on the action once their shift ends; their notes show up in Close Shifts (beta)
  • Email some or all of an action's participants straight from the Participants tab with Email Participants, and see who received it
  • Send up to two automatic reminder emails before each shift, set up on an action or an action template
  • Schedule a participant email for later, and edit or cancel it from Sent & Scheduled Emails until it goes out
  • Preview a participant email or reminder email to see exactly how it will look before it goes out
  • Send a participant email as a group thread, so everyone can see and reply to each other's answers
  • Org admins can choose which emails their organization sends in Settings → General → User Notification Settings

Improved

  • Previously advanced settings have moved to more relevant areas of action edit
  • Public signup forms, trainings and signup emails have a fresh OutOrganize look, with a dark mode for phones and computers set to it
  • The Team Coverage report shows Team Leads, people who have logged in and people who can log in separately, adds Vol Yes, and puts the legend beside the map
  • Team Actions on the Team Coverage report now has the same search, filters and Create Action button as Program Actions
  • Creating an action from a program page keeps you on the page and shows a link to the new action
  • Action template inputs can default to the action's lead or team ("Default Action Lead" / "Default Action Team")
  • In a person's profile drawer, See more about… shows their sections as one-click buttons with a More list, so it's easy to find phones, addresses, signups and more
  • Links to a person who was merged into another record now take you to the record they became
  • "Open (No Status)" on Record Interaction is now Preview Conversation, and it's also on the confirm and chase call buttons on an action's Participants tab
  • Lists made by Import List or by Import People are now Manual (Bulk) lists, which keep their imported people, never refresh, and can still be added to by hand
  • The People list and Copy Emails now show each person's preferred email address instead of the one added most recently

Fixed

  • Public signup forms now show an action's public name instead of its internal one
  • Choosing segments from an action in the list filters now works
  • A list made from a template no longer includes everyone in the organization when an optional input is left blank
  • Current or Future no longer hides actions that end today in the evening
  • Person pickers (like canvasser and template person inputs) now find people by full name, email or phone, and show the selected person's address
  • Editing a person no longer resets their conversation and signup counts to zero until the next refresh
  • Logging in or adding someone with a differently capitalized email address now finds the existing record
  • The list preview no longer keeps showing your whole organization when the filters you've added can't be run yet; it tells you why instead
  • The count of today's interactions in the top bar now goes up wherever you record one, stays current across tabs and devices, and resets at midnight in your organization's timezone instead of mid-evening

Release notes — October 2, 2026

New

  • Plan a returf before you make it live: the Returf tab on Teams lets you move zip codes between teams on a map, see how many people each team would gain or lose, export the plan with its reports, and activate it when you're ready
  • Move zip codes onto a team from another team, by typing them, picking a city, county or district, or clicking them on the team's map
  • Move a team under a different parent team from its Details tab

Improved

  • A team's Geography map can show its child teams' zip codes in their own colors, plus nearby unclaimed zip codes and other teams' zip codes
  • The Teams tree opens three levels deep and shows member counts both for each team and including its sub-teams
  • Edit on a team opens the tab you were on, and Team Members filters are kept in the page link

Fixed

  • A child team created from its parent now shows up under that parent straight away
  • Team Members filters now apply when you open a team from the Teams list

Release notes — October 1, 2026

New

  • Turn on Lead Notifications for a form or an action's signup form to get an email each time someone fills it out or signs up through its link
  • Organizations can put people on teams automatically by their address and each team's zip codes, from Team Assignment Behavior in Team Settings, with a preview and a downloadable report of every change (staff only)

Release notes — September 30, 2026

New

  • Organizers can Remove from this list right from a person's pin on the Map outreach view
  • A New In OO tab on What's new, for stories about what we've built and why
  • On a team's Geography tab, add every zip code in a county or congressional district in one step, with the option to include zip codes that only partly cross into it
  • Invite several team members to log in at once from the Team Members tab, adding any missing email addresses before you send
  • Import Signups File now checks your file first and shows what will change (new people, updated signups, and which rows won't import and why) before anything is saved, and flags rows whose name matches someone already signed up so you can mark them as the same person, such as someone who joined the call with a different email

Improved

  • Dots on the Divide Work map are much easier to click, and clicking one dot after another switches straight to it
  • While a list is still building, its outreach numbers show a loading indicator instead of a misleading 0
  • Action pages use much less data on phones: progress bars and the Outreach list now load and refresh only what's on screen, instead of every interaction in the action
  • Reopening OutOrganize on your phone later the same day loads faster, since the app keeps its code for up to 12 hours
  • Each person on a team's Team Members tab now shows whether they can log in, with an Invite to Login button if they can't, plus a quick summary of their signups and conversations

Fixed

  • Changes made in a person's drawer from the Participants, Outreach or Map tabs (signup status, contact notes, interactions) now show up on every tab right away, without a reload
  • Phone numbers in the contact method dropdown are no longer cut off, and emails and addresses now show in full when there's room
  • Changing a logged call's result to Disconnected or Wrong Number now removes that number from the person's profile, the same as picking it the first time
  • When recording an interaction, the contact dropdown now defaults to the person's best phone number instead of their lowest-ranked one
  • A person's Phones list now puts their best number at the top instead of the bottom
  • The Related Actions Need to Know panel no longer misses shifts for people with a long signup history
  • Times like "8:30 am" in form scripts and training articles now display correctly instead of losing their minutes and breaking onto a new line

Release notes — September 29, 2026

New

  • Copy Segment Name and assign a segment’s owner straight from the Divide Work map, and “Assign/Reassign Segment” is now “Add to Segment” / “Switch Segment”
  • Manage a team’s Geography on its own tab: add, edit and remove zip codes, add every zip in a city or state at once, and see each zip’s outline on a map (a zip code can belong to only one team)
  • Import and export team geographies from a team’s page, or for every team at once from Data Jobs
  • Address fields on a person's Addresses and on Create New Location now suggest matching addresses and places as you type, and fill in the rest of the address when you pick one
  • Create a program, action template or list from the Standard Library: pick a ready-made one from OutOrganize and get your own copy to change however you like

Improved

  • You can change a question’s type after creating it, and choice questions must have at least one option
  • Action pages and step-by-step forms work better on phones, including a Save button at the top of each step
  • A team’s Permissions now have their own tab on the team page
  • Side drawers show their content on a white card, so details, signup history and import steps are easier to read

Fixed

  • Changing when a scheduled list refreshes now saves, and you pick a day and an hour window (like “12 PM – 1 PM”) that the list keeps to
  • Unticking “Only include people not in any list” in list filters now shows everyone again, instead of only people who are on a list
  • Filter popovers open in place at a readable width instead of jumping and getting cut off
  • Actions created from a template now keep all of the template’s settings, including pinned profile sections, preferred contact type, panel style, signup form questions and shift timezones
  • Pinned profile sections now show up consistently wherever you open a person from an action
  • People removed from a team, list or shift can be found and added back again
  • Changing someone’s team role on their profile shows the new role right away
  • Addresses and address filters now include DC as a state
